African Diaspora Business Forum

The African Diaspora Business Financing Forum 2011 Presented by Enyo International and the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya.

On March 31st, the former tobacco town of Durham, North Carolina and home of the historic Black Wall Street, became the site of the first business forum targeting African Diaspora businesses.  The Forum is the brainchild of local resident, and international entrepreneur, Grace Dzidzienyo, President and CEO of enyo International, Inc. an economic consulting firm.

In her conversations with the Ambassador of Kenya, Elkanah Odembo, Ms. Dzidzienyo suggested to him that such a Forum should take place to bring together African business owners and financial institutions for the purpose of obtaining capital for their enterprises, and to seek technical assistance. “Ambassador Odembo believes that the African Diaspora in general and the Kenyan Diaspora specifically, deserve an opportunity here in America, to operate profitable businesses. I am very pleased to have the Kenya Embassy in Washington to endorse my firms efforts”, states Dzidzienyo.

The African Diaspora Business Financing Forum will be held at the Radisson Hotel Research Triangle Park, 150 Park Drive, in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina starting at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011. The Forum will conclude at 12:30 p.m.  The Forum’s focus will be: Addressing Barriers to Financing for African Diaspora Businesses; Identifying Financial Resources; and Seeking Technical Assistance for Business Creation, Retention and Expansion.

The sponsors of the Forum are: The NC Institute of Minority Economic Development, Janay’s Herbal Products Company, Healthy Filling Snacks, LLC, and The National Youth Chamber of Commerce.
